Loyola's Johnston is Montana's Gatorade POY
Missoula Loyola’s Reynolds Johnston has been named Montana’s Gatorade Player of the Year for boys basketball, the organization announced Thursday.
Johnston, a 6-foot-6 junior forward, averaged 17.4 points and eight rebounds a game for the 25-0 Rams, who won a second straight State B championship on March 9. He had 22 points, 10 rebounds and six assists in Loyola’s 69-54 title game win over Fairview.
Gatorade announced Breanna Williams of Billings Skyview for the girls award for Montana last week. The 6-2 forward is a repeat winner, after leading the Falcons to their second State AA title in three seasons.
The Falcons went 24-0 this season with Wiliams, a Maryland signee, averaging 25.2 points, 11.4 rebounds and five assists per game.
