CORVALLIS — Cody Schweikert had three hits and scored four runs, Kellen Kroger threw four hitless innings and Columbia Falls topped Corvallis 12-9 in high school baseball Thursday.

Behind Kroger, who walked one and struck out four, and a three-run double from Dominick Young in the fourth inning the Wildcats (4-0) took a 9-0 lead.

The Blue Devils rallied with six runs in their half of the fifth inning, and closed the gap again in the ninth with three runs.

After Corvallis scored its ninth run on a bases-loaded hit batter, Schweikert came in with two out and the bases loaded, and struck out the next batter to end it.

Dayne Tu also had two hits for Columbia Falls, including a triple, and drove in two runs. Connor Venezio drove in two. AC Chilson doubled and scored twice for the Cats.

Brandon Brennerman’s three-run double highlighted the Blue Devils’ fifth inning.

Polson 15, Ronan 1

POLSON — Espn Fisher threw a five-inning one-hitter, Cody Haggard drove in three runs and Polson beat Ronan Thursday.

Fisher had a double, drew three walks and scored three times to back his own 10-strikeout pitching performance. He, Cole Wadsworth and Hunter Emerson all doubled during the Pirates’ eight-run second inning.

Polson (5-1) scored six more runs in the third and ended the game early under the mercy rule.

Wadsworth, Haggard, Landon Shoemake and Aiden Gfroerer all scored twice.

Coleton Sherman had the lone hit for Ronan (0-3), a first-inning RBI single that scored Tristan Fisher, who’d reached on an error.
