Peggy 'Lynette' Starling, 81

| March 31, 2024 12:00 AM

Peggy “Lynette” Starling passed away suddenly in Eureka on Wednesday, March 27, 2024. She was 81 years old. She was born Dec. 16, 1942, in Kelso, Washington, to Victor “Lynn” and Pearl “Peggy” Workman. She was the oldest of five children.

The family eventually moved back to Pinkham Creek. She graduated from Lincoln County High School in Eureka in 1960. In February of 1961, she married Robert D. “Bob” Starling and was very happily married until his death in 2014. Bob and Lynette spent a few years in Warland and Anaconda before moving to Eureka in 1967, where they remained in the area for the rest of their lives.

Besides helping Bob in the woods with his logging and dragging and hauling Christmas trees she had several jobs through the years including working at The Tobacco Valley News, The Gift Gallery, Glacier Bank, Big Sky Exxon, and retiring as the fair board secretary for The Lincoln County Fair.

Her unquestionable faith led her to volunteer countless days and hours at Holy Cross Lutheran Church, from bake sales, bazaars, Bible studies, LWML, and serving there as treasurer.

Lynette had a sincere caring nature for her family, her friends, and complete strangers. She is missed.

She is predeceased by her father Victor “Lynn” Workman and her husband Robert Dale Starling.

Her survivors include her mother, Peggy Workman; an aunt, Lula Richmond; an uncle Frank (Joan) Speyer; a sister-in-law, Peggy Starling; her son Robert L (Deb) Starling, her daughter Karen (John) Suchy, her daughter Karmen (Maury) McKinney; her grandchildren, Meghan(Alex) Ekholt, Nichole (Jon) Burns, Ryan McKinney, Ed Suchy; her great-grandchildren Josie Ekholt, and Sam, Ethan, and Silas Burns; also her brother Richard (Gail) Workman, her sister Sue (Cliff) Evans, her brother Mike (Jolene) Workman, and her brother Vic Workman. She is also survived by an extended family of many cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.
