On March 29, 2024, NorthWestern Corporation d/b/a NorthWestern Energy (“NorthWestern”) filed its Application for Interim and Final Approval of the 2024 Natural Gas Universal System Benefits (“USB”) Charge Rate Adjustment (“Application”) with the Montana Public Service Commission (“Commission”). In its Application, NorthWestern proposes to decrease the rates it charges to fund its USB program by 60.88% or approximately $0.43 per month for the average residential customer. NorthWestern asserts that the proposed rates will true-up its overcollection in the 2023 tracking period and the remaining balance of its over-collection from the 2022 tracking period, while also funding its planned 2024 USB expenditures and satisfying the statutory minimum USB funding level.  2.
