Lemonade Day squeezes out entrepreneurial lessons

| May 12, 2024 12:00 AM

Lemonade Day Flathead this June looks to again unleash the entrepreneurial spirit of the region's youth.

The day offers a platform for kids in grades kindergarten through eighth to turn lemons into lemonade and learn valuable business skills along the way.

Lemonade Day Flathead is part of a national program dedicated to teaching kids the fundamentals of entrepreneurship through the simple yet powerful act of running a lemonade stand. Presented by the Discover Kalispell Chamber, this initiative provides young participants with the opportunity to develop essential skills such as goal setting, budgeting,  marketing, and customer service, all while having fun and making a difference in their community.

Registration for Lemonade Day Flathead is now open to all youth in grades kindergarten through eighth. Interested participants can sign up online at www.lemonadeday.org/flathead. Youth can then download the MyLemonade Day app to learn the steps toward building their lemonade business, or they can request one of the limited number of lemonade lesson books.

"We're thrilled to once again bring Lemonade Day to the Flathead and empower our young people to become the business leaders of tomorrow," said Jenn Cronk, workforce and special initiatives director at Discover Kalispell Chamber. "Lemonade Day Flathead not only teaches valuable entrepreneurial skills but also instills the importance of giving back to  the community, as participants are encouraged to donate a portion of their proceeds to a cause of their choice."

Lemonade Day Flathead culminates on June 22 when participants will set up their lemonade stands across the Flathead Valley, serving refreshing beverages to eager customers and putting their newfound business acumen into practice.
