Sylvia Tancre, 88
Sylvia "Sally" Ann Tancre, 88, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, March 13, 2024, at Logan Heath Medical Center, in Kalispell. She was born to her parents, Haaken and Hazel Kahldahl, June 29, 1935, in Crosby North Dakota. Sally was the 13th of 15 children and grew up on a dairy farm in Ray, North Dakota. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family.
On July 17, 1953, she married Duane (Duke) Tancre. Soon after, they moved to the Flathead Valley to make it their home.
They had three children and nearly 50 years together before Duke preceded her in death. She was also preceded by her two sons, Marvin and Steve Tancre; and her grandson, Jason.
She is survived by her daughter, Sheryle Turman and son-in-law, Dave Turman; daughter-in-law, Shari Crissmore and her husband, Cliff; daughter-in-law, Kathy Tancre; along with seven grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, five great-great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
After her own children were grown, Sally and Duke moved back to North Dakota where they would spend a majority of the year, along with snow birding to Quartzsite, Arizona. They spent many miles adventuring together on the open road, either by van or motorcycle.
After Duke’s passing, Sally made the decision to move back to the Flathead to be close to her children once again. This is where she spent the rest of her days. She loved taking part in regular family lunches, along with trips to the movie theatre and salon. She also enjoyed cooking and baking and would also be sure to have extra to share.
Throughout her life, Sally’s greatest source of joy and fulfillment remained in her time with family.
She is being laid to rest in Plains Memorial Cemetery, with her loved ones who have gone before. In lieu of flowers and memorial gifts, the family has requested to consider a donation to the Cystic Fibrosis Research Institute.
