Glacier High School student named state winner in Doodle for Google contest
Glacier High School student Anitha Ravipati is the Montana winner for 16th annual Doodle for Google contest.
Ravipati is one of 55 state and territory winners whose artwork will be displayed in an online gallery where people may vote on their favorite design to determine who will go on to become one of five finalists — one of whom will become the national winner.
State winners were judged on artistic skill, creativity and depiction of the contest theme through their doodle and supporting statement.
In celebration of Google’s 25th anniversary, the corporation asked K-12 students across the U.S. to answer the prompt “My wish for the next 25 years.”
“My wish for the next 25 years is to become someone who can make a lasting impact on people. My goal is to help others in any way I can. I aspire to become a doctor who will save lives. I also wish that I become someone who is kind, brave and sincere,” Ravipati stated in her interpretation of the theme.
The national winner will be announced in June and will win a $30,000 college scholarship and $50,000 toward the establishment/improvement of a computer lab or technology program at their school. The winning doodle will also be displayed for a day at www.google.com.
The four other national finalists will win a $5,000 college scholarship and a Chromebook. Remaining state winners receive a Chromebook.
Voting is open through June 4 at https://doodles.google.com/d4g/vote/.
