Harold L (Farley) Grainger, 86, passed away May 22, 2024. He was born to Lawrence and Elizabeth Grainger July 15, 1937, in Glasgow. The family moved to Kalispell in 1949. He attended junior high at Linderman and graduated from Flathead County High School with the class of 1955.

He married Jean Zimmerman on April 2, 1960. They raised their three children in Evergreen, where he was active in the community and served eight years on the Evergreen School District board as vice chair.

Farley joined his brother Howard and father Lawrence in the insurance business in 1970. He enjoyed a successful and rewarding career with the Grainger Agency of Farmers Union Insurance, many of his clients becoming good friends.

He and Jean loved the outdoors and all that the Flathead Valley offered; hiking Glacier Park and the Jewel Basin and cross-country skiing. Farley also enjoyed hunting, and fishing on Flathead Lake. He and Jean shared a passion for travel and in addition to numerous vacations earned through sales competitions with Farmers Union Insurance, they explored most of the United States and traveled to the Caribbean, Central America, Mexico and Europe.

After retirement, Farley and Jean divided their time between Florence, Arizona, and their much-loved place at Table Bay on Flathead Lake before the progression of his dementia made that life unmanageable. He spent his last years in Memory Care at The Oasis, Christian Care facility in Phoenix, Arizona, where he was a staff favorite.

He is survived by his wife of 64 years Jean and their three children; Cheryl Monroe and her husband Charlie, Gary and his husband Steve Schuman, and son Brian and his partner Vicky Higgins; grandchildren Nicole Folwick and her husband, Marty, and Hunter Monroe; great-granddaughter Addyson Grant, and numerous nieces and nephews.

The family is planning a private memorial service.

Donations to Alzheimer's Association Alz.Org to further research and find a cure would be a beautiful and appreciated tribute.
