Memorial Day events planned across the valley
Several events across the Flathead Valley will honor Memorial Day on Monday, May 27.
United Veterans of the Flathead Valley and VFW Post 2522 will present military honors at various locations around the valley. The public is invited to attend these ceremonies at any location.
The schedule of events is:
10:15 a.m. — Glacier Memorial Gardens cemetery
11 a.m. — Ceremony at Veterans Memorial, Depot Park, Kalispell
11:45 a.m. — VFW luncheon, Post 2252, Kalispell
12:45 p.m. — Ceremony to retire and raise flag Conrad Cemetery
1:45 p.m. — Ceremony at Fairview Cemetery
2:30 p.m. — Ceremony at Woodlawn Cemetery, Columbia Falls
3 p.m. — Ceremony at Veterans Home Cemetery, Columbia Falls
In Whitefish, the Lion Mountain VFW Post 276 holds its annual Memorial Day parade on Second Street. A short ceremony at the Veterans’ Bridge is at 2 p.m., followed by a ceremony at the Whitefish City Cemetery. A free community barbecue follows at the VFW Post 276 at 3 p.m.
Columbia Falls Freedom Post 72 is holding its annual Veterans Day Walk to Honor fallen heroes. The walk goes from the Nite Owl parking lot to the Flathead River, to honor the buried at sea, and then back to the Memorial Wall at Marantette Park. Meet at the Nite Owl parking lot at 10:30 a.m. and the walk begins at 11 a.m.
