Contemporary pottery on exhibit at Wanda Hollensteiner Art Gallery
An exhibit titled, Two Masters of Contemporary Pottery: Charlie Davis and Brad Fabel, will be on display Nov. 12 through Jan. 15 at the Wachholz College Center’s Wanda Hollensteiner Art Gallery.
The public is invited to attend a free opening reception from 5 to 7 p.m. Nov. 13. The Wachholz College Center is located on the campus of Flathead Valley Community College.
Born in 1944 in Freeport, New York, Davis obtained a Bachelor of Fine Arts from Alfred University School of Ceramics, focusing on global historical pottery techniques, especially Raku firing. In 1973, Davis moved to Kalispell where he has worked, taught and exhibited for 51 years.
Fabel, who has worked with ceramics for 39 years, was mentored by Davis and studied with longtime Flathead Valley Community College instructors Jim Flaherty and David Regan. Fabel developed a deep expertise in a variety of ceramics applications including specialized firing techniques and esoteric surface treatments. His work reflects an interest in innovative methods and experimental forms.
The gallery is open from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. weekdays. It is also open to ticketholders attending events held at the Wachholz, 777 Grandview Drive, Kalispell.
