Speed a suspected factor in fatal motorcycle crash near Kalispell
Excessive speed is a suspected factor in a motorcycle crash Friday that killed a 21-year-old Kalispell man.
The wreck happened at about 12:30 p.m. near Tronstad Road and U.S. 93 north of Kalispell.
According to the Montana Highway Patrol accident report, a Kenworth Construction truck was turning north from Tronstad onto U.S. 93 when, for unknown reasons, the motorcyclist on a Kawasaki ZX636 moved from the left lane into the right lane and collided with the truck.
The motorcyclist, who was wearing a helmet, died at the scene of the crash. The truck driver from Bigfork was not injured.
Witnesses said the motorcyclist was lane splitting near Rose Crossing and traveling at speeds of approximately 90 mph prior to the crash.
Road conditions were listed as clear and dry.
