DeBourg, Billings Central down Whitefish
BILLINGS — Jack DeBourg ran for four touchdowns — all in the first half — and Howie Martin threw for two scores as Billings Central down Whitefish 55-21 in a Class A quarterfinal football game Saturday night.
DeBourg had scoring runs of 9, 1, 5 and 8 yards as the Rams improved to 10-0 and picked up their 200th win in coach Jim Stanton’s tenure.
Whitefish (7-4) answered DeBourg’s first touchdown with a 26-yard scoring pass from Carson Gulick to Cooper Akey, knotting the score at 7-all at 6:44 of the first quarter.
The Rams quickly pulled away from there, and into a home semifinal game against Lewistown, which knocked off defending champion Dillon 21-13 Saturday.
Martin also ran for a score for the Rams, getting in from a yard out to put his team up 49-7 at halftime.
“They were tough,” Whitefish coach Brett Bollweg said of the Rams. “They were the more physical team tonight and deserved to win.
“It doesn’t change how we feel about our guys, how proud we are of them how they play the game, and the men they’re growing into be.”
Thirteen seniors dotted the Whitefish roster, including Gulick, who threw a 4-yard scoring pass to fellow senior CJ Thew in the final seconds. Whitefish got its second touchdown from senior Riley Zetooney, who tore off a 42-yard burst in the fourth quarter.
