Concerts showcase the emotion of Nordic music

Bringing the power, grace and emotion of Nordic music to life, Glacier Symphony and Chorale presents “Finlandia!” concert this week.  
The concert takes place Nov. 16 at 7:30 p.m. and Nov. 17 at 3 p.m. at the Wachholz College Center on the campus of Flathead Valley Community College.  

The evening features internationally renowned violinist Rachel Barton Pine as the soloist performing with the orchestra.
This concert showcases Jean Sibelius’s iconic works, highlighting his beloved “Finlandia,” a hymn-like tribute to the composer’s homeland that has become a beacon of Finnish pride and resilience. The program is an emotional journey through Sibelius's deeply evocative soundscapes, exploring the grandeur of Nordic landscapes, national spirit, and timeless beauty.
Acclaimed violinist Rachel Barton Pine will join Glacier Symphony to perform a selection of Sibelius’s most treasured compositions. Known for her technical brilliance and emotional depth, Pine’s virtuosity has captivated audiences worldwide, and her collaboration with
Glacier Symphony promises to be a spellbinding highlight of the season.  

“Finlandia!” is a key highlight of Glacier Symphony’s 42nd season, titled World Connections, celebrating the rich tapestry of global music traditions and cultural expressions. Sibelius's work invites listeners to experience the beauty and intensity of the Nordic spirit, creating a transcendent and reflective experience for music lovers.
In keeping with the Glacier Symphony's commitment to enhancing the concert experience,
season ticket holders, Maestro Circle members, and business partners will have access to
the Bravo Reception Suite in the Swank Recital Hall from 6:45 to 7:15 p.m. before the concert begins on Saturday at 7:30 p.m.
