Colleen Sund, 77

Colleen D. Sund, 77, passed away peacefully on Nov. 9, 2024, in La Grange, Kentucky.

Mary Colleen "Neen" Driscoll was born Nov. 8,1947 to the late Aloysius "Al" and Patricia "Pat" Driscoll, in Omaha, Nebraska. The oldest of five, "Neen" was raised Catholic, first in Nebraska, then in Flagstaff, Arizona. She later attended St. Catherine's Hospital, Omaha, Nebraska, Sisters of Mercy, on an accelerated nursing program, where she became a registered nurse. 

While there, she met and married the love of her life, Robert "Bob" Sund. Colleen and Bob had three children, Molly, Pattie, and Matt. They moved often with Bob's job, getting to see many places.

Colleen loved traveling, camping, bingo, horse races and spending time with her family. She was loving, kind, smart, funny and had a rebellious streak a mile wide. Whether in storms under the "neath," donuts in the snow or a red sports car on Superbowl Sunday, she'd jut out her chin and go for it. She always said everything needed a bit of whimsy.

She was many things — a loving and devoted wife and mother, a wonderful grandma, beloved sister and aunt, and a great nurse. 

Her husband preceded her in death, Colleen is now reunited with Bob in Heaven.

Left to cherish the memory of Colleen are her three children, Molly S. Drago, Patricia O’Rourke (Brian), and Matthew Sund (Ashley); six grandchildren, Keith Sass, Skyler Sund, Kayden Sund, Piper Sund, Patrick O'Rourke, and Brianna O'Rourke; her siblings, Thomas Driscoll (Deb), James Driscoll (Laura), Robert Driscoll (Jackie), and Molly Gladstone (Dave); and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews, and friends.

A private celebration of Colleen’s life will be held at a later date.

Colleen was loved by so many and will be greatly missed.
