News Now: Strengthening community with the Flathead Food Bank
The Flathead Food Bank will give out around 750 thanksgiving meals on Nov. 22, and 600 for Christmas Dec. 20, according to Director Chris Sidmore. He sat down with Daily Inter Lake reporter Taylor Inman about the work it takes from food bank staff, volunteers and community partners to feed those struggling during the holiday season.
Sidmore said among the many gifts from community partners, they recently received a $20,000 check from Kalispell Auto Group to help with our work they do with children, which include backpacks stuffed with snacks and other food for local kids.
Applied Materials is another company who donated time and money to the food bank this year. Employees were spending time packing up food for their upcoming holiday drive when the Daily Inter Lake spoke with Sidmore. He said the company has donated $85,000 to the nonprofit this year.
