Youth choir’s first concert set Nov. 24
The Flathead Valley Youth Chorus makes its debut with its first concert, To Sing and Rejoice!, on Nov. 24.
Directed by Jennifer Stephens, the group of 39 singers in grades third through sixth, have been rehearsing since September to perform a lively collection of songs.
The free concert will open with the English folk song (and tongue-twister) “The Leatherwing Bat.” After a musical visit to the Torres Strait Islands and the Caribbean, the young singers will share what all the buzz is about in “The Kazoo Koncerto.” The concert finale will feature classical hits such as “Ode to Joy” on musical instruments.
Pre-concert music will be provided by the Flathead Valleyaires in the Flathead High School commons, 644 Fourth Ave. W. in Kalispell. The concert starts at 3 p.m. and the performance is expected to be half an hour in length. There will be a photo booth and free ice cream from Sweet Peaks.
The Flathead Valley Youth Chorus is currently accepting auditions to attend the second semester of the program. The choir is a program of Bear Grass Performing Arts.
