Sentinel sweeps Glacier soccer; Hellgate girls down Flathead

MISSOULA — Breanna Smith scored two quick goals for Missoula Sentinel Thursday, and the Spartans made that stand up for a 2-0 win over Glacier in Western AA girls soccer.

The Wolfpack dropped both ends of the doubleheader, with the boys dropping a 2-1 decision to the Spartans. 

Sentinel 2, Glacier 0 

Smith scored off a deflection, and then again off a helper and that’s all Sentinel needed. 

“Story of our last couple matches,” Wolfpack coach Doug Mello said. “Slow first half which found us down; we regrouped and played a 0-0 second half.  

“We need to put 80 minutes together and we’ll find joy again.” 

Mello singled out the play of defender Reese Ramey and midfielder Bailey Dahlman for Glacier, which fell to 4-3-2. Sentinel outshot the Wolfpack 6-5.

Glacier managed a goal by Elias Holly, off an assist from Isaac Weaks, which wasn’t enough.

Hellgate girls 8, Flathead 0

MISSOULA — Elly Reed scored a hat trick in the span of nine minutes of the first half, and Missoula Hellgate went on to down Flathead 8-0 at girls soccer at Rattlesnake Fields.
