Whitefish soccer sweeps T-Falls

WHITEFISH — Preston McPherson scored first, scored last and his Whitefish Bulldogs ended the regular season with a 5-2 win over North A foe Thompson Falls Thursday.

The win completed a Whitefish sweep: The Bulldog girls beat the Blue Hawks 3-0.

Kyle Jonson had a goal and an assist for the Bulldogs, who saw Jack Oehlerich and Griffin Gunlikson find the net to spark a four-goal second half. Whitefish improved to 8-3-1 overall and 5-2-1 in North A games. 

Andrew Wrobleski scored for the Blue Hawks (1-7-3 overall, 1-4-2 in league). 

Thompson Falls fell to 0-9-2 and 0-6-2.

The Bulldogs celebrated Senior Night with a three-goal burst in the first 27 minutes: Delaney Smith had two of the goals and assisted on the third by Sadie Olson. 

Madi Stanwood, one of 10 seniors on the team — all of them started — turned away all three shots she faced. Senior Madi Gordon had an assists. 

Whitefish is 8-3-1 overall and 5-2-1 in league. Their next match will be a week from Saturday in the Class A playoffs. 

Thompson Falls fell to 0-9-2 and 0-6-2 in league.
