Law roundup: Something smells funny about canvasser
Kalispell Police officers got a call from someone alleging that a man dressed in all beige who reeked of patchouli was staggering around an apartment complex asking people about the election. The caller then changed what the man was wearing to a green jacket and black pants and boots. The man told officers he was campaigning for a political candidate and would be in the area for an hour.
A woman reported that her vehicle was stolen four years ago and that a friend recently saw it parked somewhere. The woman said she lost the title and didn’t have registration for the vehicle. Officers advised her, according to their records, it was towed back in 2022 and provided the name of the company.
A man with a shaved head was purportedly carrying pamphlets and “skulking around,” according to someone who thought he was paying too much attention to where security cameras were installed.
A dog in poor condition was found by someone who turned it into the Flathead County Animal Shelter. The veterinarian treating the dog stated its condition was a result of animal cruelty. The dog reportedly had a large bloody and pus-filled tumor on its side, had a zip tie and cloth tied around it, was blind in one eye, had black teeth, fleas and was 2/3 of proper weight.
A woman called officers furious that the landlord who evicted her reportedly refused to let her return or get her belongings and bellyached that the Kalispell Police Department was “never fair to her.”
A woman reportedly felt the need to play Nancy Drew and follow a car she told dispatch had suspiciously circled a park four different times. She said the car was “obviously trying to lose her” when it turned onto random streets.
A red, white and blue motor home was allegedly taking up five parking spots and a property manager asked officers for a case report number to have it towed.
A man was reportedly seen drinking Fireball before driving away in a dark blue Chevy SUV.
A woman called officers crying that her mother was kicking her out and wouldn’t let her pick up her belongings. She told dispatch she was on her way to her mother’s then screamed at dispatch and hung up when they told her not to go to the location.
