No Man’s Land Film Festival stops in Whitefish

| October 17, 2024 12:00 AM

Girls on the Run Western Montana is hosting the No Man’s Land Film Festival in Whitefish on Oct. 24, featuring the adventures of women athletes and storytellers.

With movies meant to inspire, motivate and expand perceptions of women athletes and adventurers, No Man’s Land Film Festival was founded in 2015 in response to the lack of representation in outdoor media, touting itself as the “premier all-women and genderqueer adventure film festival.”

The service-minded and community-oriented arts and advocacy nonprofit seeks to celebrate “the full scope of athletes and adventurers by un-defining femininity in adventure, sport, conservation and film,” according to nomanslandfilmfestival.org.

Girls on the Run is a nonprofit organization dedicated to empowering girls to reach their potential by incorporating running with lessons focused on building social, emotional and physical skills through healthy habits.

“Our mission is to inspire girls to be joyful, healthy and confident using a fun, experience-based curriculum which creatively integrates running,” said Kim Holloway, executive director of Girls on the Run Western Montana. “Pairing this with the incredible work the NMLFF is doing to shine a light on women telling stories of other women in girls only strengthens that mission.”

“Girls on the Run Western Montana and No Man’s Land encourages everyone to attend to evolve and expand our capacity for compassion and creation within the self, the community, and the cosmos,” the press release states.

Ticket prices are $25 for adults and $10 for children 12 and under are $10.

The festival will be held at the Whitefish Performing Arts Center, 127 Spokane Ave. Doors open at 5:30 p.m. with a social hour and silent auction planned. The screening starts at 6:30 p.m. and the short films are rated “G” for all ages.

All proceeds from this event will benefit Girls on the Run Western Montana.
