Mitchel 'Mitch' Matheson, 68

Mitchel Chris Matheson, 68, of Columbia Falls, was called home to be with the Lord on Oct. 15, 2024.

Mitch was born on Nov. 26, 1955, in Moses Lake, Washington, to Stan and Guynell Hooper. He gave his life to Christ as a young teenager and lived his life close to his Savior ever since. He was not overt in his faith, but welcomed the opportunity to share how God had changed his life and guided him throughout it. Mitch married Carol Matheson on June 19, 1993, and together they built a life grounded in faith. They were blessed with one child, Caleb Matheson, whom they raised in a home filled with faith and love.

Mitch will be remembered for his kindness, integrity, true empathy, and generosity with his time and knowledge. He touched the lives of many with his faith, compassion, and steadfast belief in God’s promise of eternal life. 

He is survived by his wife, two sons, mother, one brother and one sister. Though we mourn Mitch’s passing, we take comfort in knowing that he is now in the presence of our Lord and Savior, in his true home. As the Scriptures say, "To be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord" (2 Corinthians 5:8). 

A celebration of Mitch’s life and faith will be held on Oct 26, at Our Redeemer’s Lutheran Church in Columbia Falls, with services beginning at 10 a.m. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the church, reflecting Mitch’s desire to share his faith.
