Dorcheus, defense power Wolfpack past Sentinel

MISSOULA — Kobe Dorcheus ran for 121 yards and four touchdowns and Glacier’s defense found the end zone three times as the Wolfpack swamped Missoula Sentinel 56-10 in Western AA football Thursday.

Jackson Presley completed 14 of 21 passes for 203 yards for the Wolfpack, who ended the regular season 8-1 overall and 6-1 in Western AA games. He also ran for Glacier’s first TD, a 1-yard plunge that tied the game at 7-7 at 2:06 of the first quarter.

Sentinel (4-5, 3-4 in league) jumped ahead on a 58-yard scoring pass from Jace Koshatka to Sam Sirmon midway through the opening period. But by 10:07 of the second, when Dorcheus scored from 9 yards out, Glacier was ahead for good.

Dorcheus added a 1-yard touchdown that capped a 65-yard drive with 1:15 left in the second quarter, and the Pack took a 21-10 lead into halftime. He scored on Glacier’s first possession of the second half as well — and then on the ensuing kickoff Sentinel’s Bridger Devlin fumbled, and Carson Baker returned the ball 4 yards for a score and a 35-10 lead.

It got worse for the Spartans: at 4:02 of the third quarter Glacier’s Bridger Smith picked off a pass at the Sentinel 7 and scored; with 4:51 left in the game the Pack’s Cooper Pelc intercepted a deep ball and returned it 65 yards to the paint.

In between, Dorcheus got his fourth TD of the night and 20th rushing TD of the season.

The Wolfpack is now idle this coming week, having earned a bye and a State AA quarterfinal home game on Nov. 8.

The first-round pairings for next week have not been determined yet.
