Football roundup: Tkachyk’s 4 TDs powers C-Falls past Ronan

Brody Tkachyk ran for four touchdowns, while Reggie Sapa and Banyan Johnston each threw for a score as Columbia Falls wrapped up their regular season with a 45-8 victory over Ronan.


Tkachyk carried the ball 19 times for 102 yards, including an 11-yard scamper for a touchdown — the other three scores came from one, two and three yards out.


 

Easton Brooks caught six passes for the Wildcats (6-2, 6-0 in Western A games), including two touchdowns; the first a 19-yard pitch-and-catch from Johnston to put the Wildcats up 21-0 in the second quarter, the second a five-yard toss from Sapa in the third quarter.


Johnston finished the evening 11 of 18 for 115 yards, while Sapa was a perfect 6-for-6 and 49 yards.

 

Kolby Finley finished 10-for-17 passing with 128 yards and one touchdown for Ronan (3-5, 2-3), he added 54 yards on the ground in 16 carries. 

Laurance Lozeau caught four passes, totaling 84 yards and a touchdown — a 15-yard strike in the fourth quarter.


The Wildcats now head into the first round of the playoffs as the No. 3 seed in the west, hosting Corvallis on Friday. Nov. 1.

Whitefish 69, Browning 0 

BROWNING — Carson Gulick threw for two touchdowns and ran for another, while Riley Zetooney carried the ball five times for 99 yards and a score as Whitefish cruised to the No. 4 seed in the west with a 69-0 win over Browning.


Seven different Bulldogs scored rushing touchdowns as Whitefish racked up 249 yards on the ground and 429 overall in the win.

 

Gulick finished the evening 7-for-9 with 147 yards and two touchdowns — one to Thew and one to Jordan Harmon — he added four rushes for 25 yards and a score.

 

CJ Thew had a team-high four catches for 62 yards with a touchdown, and a 13-yard run that found paydirt.


Harmon found the endzone on his only carry and reception of the evening — a 40-yard rush and an 18-yard grab from Gulick.

 

Cameron Diehl, Cole Moses and Scotty Dalen each found the endzone on the ground.


Luke Dalen connected with Vlad Shestak for a 33-yard score on his only pass of the evening.

 

The Bulldogs now prepare for a first-round playoff matchup with No. 5 seed Bigfork on Friday Nov. 1.

Dillon 53, Libby 6 

LIBBY — Layne Phillips finished with three touchdowns, two on special teams and one receiving, as Dillon used a strong first half to defeat Libby 53-6 Friday.

 

Phillips put the Beavers (7-1, 4-1) on the board right away with a 91-yard kickoff return on the opening play of the game. He added a 75-yard punt return touchdown to make it 13-0 early.


Hank Hagenbarth extended the lead with a two-yard run later in the first, he finished with 73 yards on five carries and two scores. 

Late in the first Phillips added his third score of the quarter on a 39-yard pass from Canin Christansen. Phillips finished with three receptions for 53 yards and a touchdown along with the two return scores.


Christansen threw four touchdowns and added 175 yards through the air on 11 of 16 passing.


Libby (2-6, 1-4) got on the board in the second quarter as Tristan Andersen found Ian Thom for a 5-yard passing touchdown. Andersen finished the day 12-for-26 with 116 yards and the score. Thom caught four passes for 67 yards.


Ryan Beagle added six catches, totaling 54 yards for the Loggers.

 

Dillon now sits idle as the Beavers secure the No. 2 seed in the west with the win.

Hamilton 45, Polson 23 

HAMILTON — Brayden Lanser ran 19 times for 176 yards and two touchdowns, leading the Hamilton Broncs over Polson in Western A play.


Cooper Western ran for a score and threw for one for the Broncs, who outgained Polson 480-275 and ended up 2-6 overall and in league games. Kaiden Gum threw for two scores — he was 12 of 17 passing for 171 yards — and ran for one.

 

The loss knocked Polson (4-4, 4-4) out of the playoff picture. Holden Emerson was 11 of 26 passing for 178 yards and a touchdown for the Pirates. Case Cox came on late and was 4 of 5 passing for 56 yards, including a touchdown to Eli Evenson.

 

Jackson Lubke had 11 catches for 141 yard and three scores for Hamilton; Cason Graham had five catches for 68 yards and a TD for Polson.

Eureka 41, Anaconda 6 

EUREKA — Jesse Day and Haiden Johnson each ran for two touchdowns and Eureka built a 35-0 lead Friday on the way to its Western B win over Anaconda.

 

Johnson ran 11 times for 106 yards for the Lions, who ended the regular season 7-2 overall and 3-2 in league games. Day had six carries for 31 yards. 

Rogan Lytle was 6 of 7 passing for 62 yards and ran seven times for 74, with a touchdown pass to Emmet McKim and a 53-yard scoring burst.

 

The Lions outgained the Copperheads (1-7, 1-4 in league) 341-135. Defensively, Wes Banks had a sack and four tackles and Tristan Libby and Timothy Schmidt picked off passes.
