Letters to the editor Sept. 5

Doesn’t reflect Kalispell

In response to the Sept. 3 letter “Shocked by display of racism,” this is my hometown and I was taken aback of your disparaging accusations of our town being racist. I realize this, your opinion, is just one but it put out a very untrue message.

Realize that Kalispell is a high tourist town at this time of year. Why did you assume this man lived here? Perhaps he was visiting, maybe even from your state which has a high rate of racism. Also it could be that this man has mental issues.

Whatever the case, as you said, it was one rude man which doesn’t reflect the attitudes of all our citizens here. I am not sure why you felt you had to leave quickly for fear of widespread racism or even write this to our town paper. That’s just crazy and many of us take it personally.

Disrespectful

Time and time again, Donald Trump has shown his total disrespect for the laws of this country. He has been convicted in the state of New York. Trump has shown disrespect for the military veterans of this country, calling Sen. John McCain a coward for being captured and becoming a POW. Then calling veterans at the grave site at Normandy stupid and losers.

Then the ultimate disgrace of violating federal law for using Arlington National Cemetery as campaign plug on TikTok.

His staffers actually shoved an Army cemetery worker out of the way when the worker asked them to stop filming. This happened after the Trump campaign was advised earlier that any political activities were not permitted on the grounds of Arlington National Cemetery.

Not only that, the chief of staff for the Arlington National Cemetery Bob Quackenbush was standing right next to Trump, also violating the federal law. Quackenbush should be fired from his position and denied any benefits from that position as he broke the law.

Any person who thinks he is above the law and constantly violates the laws of this nation and shows so much disrespect of our veterans does not deserve to be president of this country. His campaign slogan should be “Trump, from nothing comes nothing.”

Poll numbers

I am not a sophisticated pollster, but I question the amazing turn of events by the Democrats.

After President Joe Biden demonstrated his dementia on national TV in his debate with former President Donald Trump, the media and Democrats could no longer deny what had been obvious to any fair-minded observer; Joe was beyond his expiration date.

So rather than hold an open nomination process, the establishment, probably after obtaining a commitment from Harris to follow party dictum, anointed Kamala Harris as their new presidential candidate.

Amazingly, overnight, on poll after poll, her approval ratings soared (she was below Biden) and she is tied or winning on battleground state and national polls. This is quite an accomplishment for someone who has done absolutely nothing but attack her opponent. She did appoint a lying socialist, Tim Walz, as vice-presidential candidate.

Walz, himself a far left progressive, said during a “White dudes for Harris” livestream, “One person’s socialism is another person’s neighborliness.”

If I were Donald Trump, I would not talk about Harris’s Blackness or lack thereof or attack Walz for embellishing his military service or rank. He needs to stick to the issues that matter to most Americans: high prices and inflation, unsafe streets, porous borders leaking terrorists, criminals and drugs, plans to eliminate fossil fuels and economic plans and nanny-state regulations like eliminating gas stoves that will further destroy our economy.

He should also assure that the RNC has enough sophisticated poll watchers on the ground to prevent the documented cheating by Democrats that the media and courts have ignored. If Kamala can require a photo ID to attend her rally, she can demand the same to vote.

Another four years of progressive socialism will irreparably destroy the country we love. Conservatives cannot let that happen.
