MISSOULA — Missoula Hellgate is a soccer power and the Rattlesnake Fields are a tough place for opponents, so Glacier’s girls feel pretty good about Thursday.

Midway through the second half, Emmery Schmidt drove the game-tying goal home off a feed from Emelia Remley, and the Wolfpack hung on for a 1-1 draw with the Knights.

Earlier in the day the Glacier boys fell to Hellgate, 3-0.

“Certainly Hellgate is the team to beat in our section,” second-year Glacier girls coach Doug Mello said. “It’s the first time we’ve gotten a decent result against them in my two years.”

Mello credited keeper Aerin Todd, for starters.

“She made a number of big saves to keep us in the game,” he said. “Along with Reese Ramey, our center-back — she was instramental in defending. She had a standout match, as did Amelia Remley.”

Hellgate was State AA runnerup last season.
