EUREKA — Eureka quarterback Rogan Lytle rushed for 144 yards and six touchdowns Friday, leading the Class B Lions to a 39-32 nonconference football win over Class A Whitefish.

The visiting Bulldogs, a playoff team a year ago, lost for the second straight time to the Class B power; last year’s score was 32-6.

This time Whitefish quarterback Carson Gulick threw for 312 yards and two touchdowns, completing 26 of 54 passes. Whitefish outgained the Lions 459-455, though Eureka piled up 313 yards on the ground.

Lytle threw for 142 yards, setting up two of his 1-yard scoring runs with long passes. One TD put Eureka up 32-22 at halftime; the other made it 39-25 on the first play of the fourth quarter.  He completed 7 of 11 throws.

Gulick ran the ball in from 11 yards out to cut the gap to 39-32 with 3:25 left, but the Bulldogs couldn’t get the ball back from the Lions, who ran out the clock.

Gulick ran for 64 yards, and Riley Zetooney had 111 yards on nine carries, including a 78-yard touchdown burst that put Whitefish up 14-12 in the first quarter.

CJ Thew caught both of Gulick’s scoring passes and had seven catches for 128 yards. Scotty Dalen caught seven passes for 80 yards.

For Eureka Josh Lambertsen ran seven times for 72 yards and Haiden Johnson had nine carries for 82.
