Frontier: Western, Tech score wins
DILLON — Quarterback Michael Palandr totaled six touchdowns, and the Montana Western Bulldogs pummeled the Eastern Oregon Mountaineers 59-21 in Frontier Conference football Saturday.
Palandr went 18-for-25 with 325 yards and three touchdowns in the air and was efficient with his legs as well, scoring three TDs on the ground.
The Bulldogs ran a balanced offense, rushing for 238 yards, averaging 5.7 yards per attempt. Jake Humphrey led the ground attack with 73 yards rushing on just six attempts, with a touchdown.
Eli Nourse was Palandr’s favorite target, reeling in nine catches for 126 yards and a touchdown.
Coby Tanioka had the longest play of the day when he reeled in a 62-yard touchdown pass on the Bulldogs first drive of the game.
Rocky Mountain 27, MSU-Northern 12
BILLINGS — Ben Rooney rushed for 93 yards and a touchdown to lead the Rocky Mountain Battlin’ Bears to a 27-12 victory over the Montana State Northern Lights.
The Bears’ Graedyn Buell went 21-for-29 passing for 128 yards and two touchdowns. He also rushed 17 times for 79 yards with a TD. The Lights also sacked Buell five times.
Mason Dionne rushed for 94 yards for Northern, and QB Zach Brooks went 4-for-10 with 56 yards and two interceptions.
Southern Oregon 46, Lincoln 7
ASHLAND, Ore. — The Southern Oregon Red-tailed Hawks used a heavy ground attack to wear down the Lincoln (Calif.) Oaklanders.
The Hawks’ backfield duo of Isaiah Hidalgo and Gunner Yates combined for 161 yards and scored two touchdowns each.
The Oaklanders’ Jack Clavel went 10 of 20 for 80 yards with an interception and was sacked three times. The rushing offense gained just 52 yards.
Quarterback Blake Asciutto went 10-for-18 for 116 yards, a touchdown and an interception. His lone touchdown pass went for 14 yards to Rayden Kaneshir who finished the day with two catches for 18 yards.
Montana Tech 30, Carroll 22
HELENA — Landers Smith rushed for 117 yards and the Montana Tech Orediggers used an early lead to hold off the Carrol Saints late fourth quarter rally.
Orediggers’ quarterback Blake Thelen went 10-for-23 with 148 yards, three touchdowns and two picks.
His counterpart Jack Prka went 17-for-26 with 154 yards, averaging just 5.92 yards per attempt with an interception.
Prka did score a touchdown with his legs, while running back Xzavier Ford rushed 21 times for 151 yards and a TD.
The Saints pulled within a score 30-22 with 4:41 left in the fourth, but the Orediggers ran the clock out to end the game.
