Engellant, Pack boys lead Butte Invite golf
FAIRMOUNT HOT SPRINGS — Glacier’s Sam Engellant continued his strong play to start the season, shooting a 71 to lead the two-day Butte Invitational at Fairmont Hot Springs Golf Course on Wednesday.
The match was sent into early retirement by lightning and hail. Golfers had one or two holes left, amd were automatically given pars to complete the first round.
Engellant finished the day with six birdies to shoot 1-under. His teammates Torren Murray and Jonah Wynne tied for third, shooting 74.
Flathead’s Dylan Morris is in sixth place with a first-round score of 76.
Wolfpack boys currently hold first place at 11-over and sit five strokes ahead of the Sentinel team.
Flathead is currently in third place, 26 strokes down the leaderboard.
Butte’s Dylan Bartoletti leads the girl’s side, shooting an 85. Glacier girls’ Kendall Tkachyk is in fifth with a 93, seven strokes back. Teammate Vaida Cole is tied for sixth place, one stroke behind Tkachyk.
Flathead’s Kyrie Gislason is tied with Cole, shooting a 94.
The Glacier girls’ team sits in second place at 380, just two strokes behind Belgrade, after Braelyn Ryan and Abbi Townsend had top 15 scores.
Flathead girls sit in fifth place at 445.
The final round will is today at the same venue.
