Fairy Walks
The Conrad Mansion Museum is holding Fairy Walks in the Garden on Thursdays in September from 5-7 p.m.
People of all ages are invited to the mansion’s gardens to look for fairy houses nestled in the flowers. The Conrads’ youngest child, Alicia, believed in fairies. She would let the flowers and plants in the garden grow tall so that the fairies could build their magical homes without being seen.
Golden retriever gathering
The fifth annual GoldenStock golden retriever event and fundraiser takes place from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 14, at the Haymoon Resort, 1845 Hodgson Road, Whitefish.
The event features educational demonstrations, vendors, dog games and activities, all centered around golden retrievers. Golden games begin at 12:30 p.m. and the group picture is at 1:30 p.m.
Dogs must be vaccinated and on a leash.
A free shuttle will be available from the Midway Tavern on U.S. 93 North.
Proceeds benefit Montana Precious Gold, the nonprofit golden retriever rescue of Montana.

Flathead Celtic Festival
The 10th annual Flathead Celtic Festival & Highland Games is Sept. 13 from 3-7 p.m. and Sept. 14 from 9 a.m.-6 p.m.
The festival is at Centennial Farm, 563 McMannamy Draw, Kalispell. Admission is free.
The event includes highland athletics competition, live music, parade of clans, bagpipers, Irish step dancing, highland dancing, Celtic wares and craft merchants, food and beer and free kids activities.
Chili Cook Off
The Montana Hope Project is holding a Chili Cook Off fundraiser Sept. 14 at 3 p.m. at the Moose Lodge, 230 W. 10th St., Whitefish.
Cost is $5 per person. Event includes raffle, prizes and 50/50 tickets.
All proceeds support the Montana Hope Project, sponsored by the Association of Montana Troopers, which grants wishes to critically ill children in Montana.
Locals Day
The Conrad Mansion Museum, Hockaday Museum of Art and Northwest Montana History Museum will offer discounted admission from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sept. 14 to celebrate Locals Day.
Visitors who show their Montana driver’s licenses can buy a passport to enter all three museums located within walking distance of one another in downtown Kalispell. The passport costs $10 for adults. Children and teens 18 and under are free. Passports may be purchased at all three locations.
Roller Derby
The Flathead Roller Derby holds a double header Sept. 14 at the Flathead County Fairgrounds at the Trade Center to kick off its season.
Doors open at 4 p.m., first bout is 4:30 p.m. and second bout is about 7 p.m. The first game features skaters from across the state in a friendly mixer. The Misfits take on the Copper City Queens from Butte in the second bout.
Presale tickets are $10 and tickets at the door are $15. Children 12 and under free.

Dessert contest
The Columbia Falls Historical Society is hosting the Fall Dessert Challenge, Sept. 17 at 6:30 p.m. in the Chapel at the Montana Veteran’s Home.
Folks are invited to bring a favorite dessert or attend to be one of the judges.
Come on out for a fun evening, and learn more about early Columbia Falls. The audience is the judges for the desserts, there will be five categories; chocolate, huckleberry, gluten free, under age 12, and other. Prizes will be awarded.
