Norma Long, 95

Norma Long, 95, passed away Monday, Sept. 10, 2024, at Logan Health Medical Center. She was born in Ambrose, North Dakota, to Ed and Edith (Palm) Strandberg on Sept. 15, 1927.

She attended elementary school in Divide County and junior high in Sidney. She graduated high school in 1945 in Crosby, North Dakota. After graduation, she found employment in Crosby, Great Falls, and Williston, North Dakota.  

On June 27, 1946, she was married to Kenneth Long in Williston, North Dakota. They ended up moving to the farm in Twin Butte township. Linda Long was born Nov. 4, 1947. They ended up moving to Williston, North Dakota, in the early '50s. She was a full-time mother and homemaker until 1957 when she was employed at Northwest Piano Company.  

In 1969 Ken and Norma moved to Kalispell with their daughter Cindy. In the years living in Montana, they enjoyed hunting, fishing, horseback riding, camping, snowmobile riding and picking huckleberries. She especially liked finding hidden lakes and rivers to fish in and never tiring of the beauty of the Rockies.  

Norma also enjoyed bowling, music, playing cards, board games, crossword puzzles, cooking, bird watching, tending to flower beds and of course spending a lot of time with family and friends.

She is survived by her daughter, Cindy and her husband Craig Galloway of Kalispell; two grandchildren Curtis Galloway of Lakewood, Washington, and Courtney Diddle of Arvada, Colorado; nephews Bruce, Tony and Michael Strandberg of Kalispell; niece Dee Bradford of Colorado and several cousins including Joel, Tim and Mick Soiseth.

She was preceded in death by her husband Kenneth; daughter Linda; father Ed; mother Edith; brother Vernie Strandberg and his wife Darlene; nephews David and Craig Strandberg and various uncles and aunts.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, Sept. 16, at Johnson-Gloschat Funeral Home, 525 Main St., Kalispell. She will be buried in a family plot in Williston on Friday, Sept. 20.
