THOMPSON FALLS — It was a successful week for the Columbia Falls soccer teams, who completed a two-match sweep with wins Saturday.

The Columbia Falls girls beat Thompson Falls 7-0, which capped a week in which the Kats won a showdown with Bigfork 5-1 on Thursday evening.

The boys also beat the Blue Hawks 7-0, after beating the Bigfork Vikings 9-2 on Thursday.

Onnika Lawrence and Isla Alexander each scored hat tricks for the Wildkats, who outshot the Blue Hawks 30-3.

Taylor Rogers also found the net for Columbia Falls; Rodgers and Alexander each had an assist and Bella Mann had two helpers.

“The girls played at a high level today and we are building more and more momentum, as we have through the season,” Wildkats coach Thomas Clark said. “Isla Alexander and Onnikka Lawrence. ... caused problems all day for Thompson Falls to deal with, up-top. We have a lot of special players on this team.”

Maxwell Everett scored four goals and Jack Harris and Arne Troy each had a goal and an assist as the Wildcats beat Thompson Falls.

It was 2-0 at halftime, but Everett scored three times in 12 minutes to give Columbia Falls a cushion.

“Thompson Falls put up a very impressive fight given the fact they are essentially a first-year program,” Columbia Falls coach O’Brien Byrd said. “They gave us real trouble in the first half.

“Our boys figured out the second half, and we were able to get back to our style of soccer.”

Everett’s four goals give him 17 on the season, in six matches. Unofficially that leads the state.

“All we can think about is the Tuesday game against the defending state champs, Whitefish,” Byrd said. “We’ll have to have our best game against them to have a chance.”
