Village Greens didn’t allow for much separation Wednesday at the Kalispell Invitational golf tournament, but that doesn’t mean people didn’t score.

Polson’s Max Milton shot a one-under 69 to lead the boys individual race after 18 holes — during which 21 players shot 75 or better and another 14 broke 80.

Glacier takes a lead in both team races into Thursday’s final round, at Buffalo Hill. Hanna Boyd of Great Falls High fired a 73 to lead the girls individual tournament.

For the boys, Glacier and Missoula Sentinel — not to mention Class A Whitefish —shot very well as a team Wednesday.

With Tanyon and Torren Murray shooting 70, the Wolfpack had all five players at 75 or better. Sam Engellant shot 71 and Luke Nelson 73, giving Glacier a one-day total of 4-over 284.

Sentinel, with five players in the top 21 as well, was next at 291. Hudson Goroski shot 70, one of five players to do so, to lead the Spartans. John Gilbert shot 70 for Helena Capital, which is fourth at 303; Otto Klein had a 70 to lead Whitefish, whch is third at 300.

Flathead’s Dylan Morris is among three players tied for seventh at 71; Columbia Falls’ Winslow Peterson had a first-round 72.

Polson’s Milton had three birdies and two birdies enroute to the first-round lead.

Glacier put four girls among the top 13 individuals Wednesday, led by Abbi Townsend’s 78.

Vaida Cole, Kendal Tkachyk and Maggie Milton were grouped together at 86-88, and the Pack led nine teams with a first-day total of 341.

Helena was 19 strokes back in second, at 360, and Whitefish (361) was a close third.

Boyd’s 73 included three birdies and left her four strokes ahead of Hamilton’s Cameron Burnett (77).

Townsend, the Whitefish duo of Karlee Brown (82) and Stella Jaffe (83) and Capital’s Olivia McGreevey (83) filled out the top six.
