COLUMBIA FALLS — Cooper Ross hit a 41-yard field, then intercepted a final Whitefish pass with 25 seconds left to clinch Columbia Falls’ 3-0 win over Whitefish in the annual Cat-Dog game Friday.

Banyan Johnston was 21 of 30 passing for 146 yards and ran 28 times for 42 yards for the Wildcats — a large majority of their offense. Columbia Falls (2-2) outgained the Bulldogs 212-106 in a defensive battle.

Ross’ field goal came at 8:32 of the second quarter. From there the Wildcat defense took over, limiting Carson Gulick to a 6 of 23 passing performance, for 51 yards. Columbia Falls also held the mobile Whitefish QB to 29 rushing yards on 13 carries.

Jory Hill had six catches for 73 yards for Columbia Falls. Jett Pitts had an interception at midfield with 1:57 left in the game as for the Cats.

Curtis Thew had four catches for 42 yards for Whitefish, which is 2-2 overall and 2-1 in league.
