C-Falls shuts out Polson; Dillon edges Whitefish

POLSON — Columbia Falls quarterback Banyan Johnston threw for 309 yards and four touchdowns Friday, leading the Wildcats to a 42-0 win over Polson in Western A football.

On a day when the Wildcats running game managed 50 yards on 27 carries — though Reggie Sapa had two scoring runs — Johnston came through with a 27-for-30 passing performance. 

Cooper Ross caught two scores, and had seven catches for 91 yards; Easton Brooks had six catches for 107 yards and Jett Pitts had five for 67. Each player hauled in a TD pass. 

Daniel O’Roake had 15 carries for 110 yards for Polson, which fell to 3-2 overall and in league play. Columbia Falls held the Pirates to 24 passing yards (with two interceptions), outgained them 359-159 and improved to 3-2, 3-2.

STEVENSVILLE — Ronan quarterback Kolby Finley threw four touchdown passes and Laurance Lozeau scored three times in the Chiefs’ Western A win. 

Finley was 12 of 17 passing for 197 yards, including two scoring strikes to Lozeau covering 6 and 42 yards. Lozeau caught three passes for 65 yards and got his third TD via 27-yard interception return. 

Michael Ramirez ran six times for 47 yards for Ronan (2-3 overall and in league), which outgained the Yellowjackets (0-5, 0-5) 252-121. Siouxpixm Qualtier had three catches for 71 yards and a score, and Chad Higgins also caught a TD.

WHITEFISH — Dillon quarterback Canin Christiansen threw two touchdown passes, and the Beavers got a 19-yard scoring run from Hank Hagenbarth to top Whitefish in a Western A game. 

Carson Gulick ran for one touchdown and threw for one for the Bulldogs (2-3 overall, 2-2 in conference play). He was 10 of 25 passing for 135 yards, with two interceptions. He ran 14 times for 36 yards.  

Thew caught the TD pass, covering 15 yards; he had three catches for 32 yards.  

Cole Moses had 10 carries for 68 yards for Whitefish, which managed 273 yards of offense.

CORVALLIS — Quarterback Aydan Mayn threw five touchdown passes in the Corvallis Blue Devils’ Western A win. 

Libby (1-4 overall and in the Western A) was held to 62 yards of offense by the Blue Devils (3-2 and 3-2), who got the night started with a 64-yard scoring run from Soloman Morgan.  

Morgan, who ran four times for 76 yards, caught two TD passes in the first quarter as well, covering 12 and 7 yards. Corvallis had 183 yards rushing and 335 overall. 

Isaac Lamere had two catches for 27 yards for Libby, and on defense had an interception. Joel Goodman had four tackles for the Loggers. Quarterbacks Ryan Beagle and James Woody combined to complete 5 of 16 passes for 44 yards.

Loyola 17, Eureka 14 

MISSOULA — A 22-yard field goal by Ethan Stack with 90 seconds left was the difference as Missoula Loyola knocked Western B rival Eureka from the unbeaten ranks Friday. 

Eureka (4-1 overall, 0-1 in league) drove to a potential game-tying field goal, then faked it on the last play of the game at Rollin Field. The pass fell incomplete in the end zone, leaving the Rams (2-2, 1-0 in the Western B) with the victory. 

Jack Clevenger hit Vince Lincoln with two touchdown passes to give Loyola leads of 7-0 and 14-7; Eureka answered with Haiden Johnson’s 5-yard TD run in the first quarter and Johnson’s 22-yard interception return in the fourth. 

Rogan Lytle was 12 of 27 passing for 135 yards for Eureka, which outgained Loyola 220-126. He also had team highs of 20 carries and 38 rushing yards. He was intercepted once and also picked off a pass on defense. 

Johnson had seven rushes for 16 yards, caught three passes for 48, and made 10 taackles on defense. Kyler Kossman had five tackles, two of them for losses, for the Lions.
