ANACONDA — Whitefish, with four players in the top 15, won the girls team title at the Western A Divisional golf tournament held Friday at Old Works Golf Course.

Stella Jaffe shot an 80 to lead the Bulldogs, while finishing third behind defending State A medalist Katie Lewis of Frenchtown (76) and 2022 State B medalist Keni Wade of Bigfork (78).

The Lady Builldogs, with Rhylee Scott (92), Karlee Brown (94) and Ava Zignego in the top 15, had 368 strokes to win the one-day event by 14 over Frenchtown.

Columbia Falls’ Addy Bowler finished 11th at 99; Wade’s Bigfork teammate Keegan Campbell shot 94 to tie for eighth.

Wade, playing in the same group as Lewis, fell two strokes behind after five holes, but stayed in range of the two-time state champion all day; both golfers parred Nos. 16-18 coming in.

Corvallis, behind medalist Brady Powell, won the boys team title with 301 strokes. Whitefish, with Aden Rickels shooting a 75, was second at 323. Columbia Falls was just two strokes back in third, thanks in large part to Winslow Peters (76) and Will Pickard (78).

Hamilton’s Tyce O’Connell, playing in the same group as Powell, birdied their final hole — No. 9 on Friday — to catch Powell at 72.

Powell then won a three-hole playoff by one stroke to claim medalist honors.

Max Milton of Polson was one stroke back at 73. Mason O’Neil and Otto Klein both finished in the top 15 for Whitefish.

Mason Peterson led Bigfork’s scorers with an 86.

The top four teams and a total of 28 individuals (plus ties) qualify for the State A Tournament, which is next Friday and Saturday (Oct. 4-5) at Polson Bay Golf Course.
