Letters to the editor Sept. 30
Old and rusted
Sen. Jon Tester is not a moderate, that is obvious from the way he votes. But the main reason Tester should be retired this year and replaced by Tim Sheehy is that he believes the bureaucrats of D.C. make better decisions about our issues here in Montana than our state would.
On abortion, Tester supports the left’s desire to dictate from D.C. abortion rights for every state even though the Supreme Court has ruled it is a states’ right issue. He trusts the feds to dictate the use of our state’s natural resources including oil, gas, coal and our vast resources of minerals and timber. Further, he led the charge to give away our water to a separate, sovereign nation which essentially obliterated our constitutional right to control the water in our own lands (including Flathead Lake). In addition, he refuses to recognize that, if the truth be known, Montana owns the public lands of our state that are now controlled and managed so ineptly by the feds
On other important issues, Tester obviously supports the open borders policy of former President Barack Obama, President Joe Biden, Rep. Nancy Pelosi and now Vice President Kamala Harris, but worst of all he has consistently cast the deciding vote on so many of the big, blow-out, budget deficit bills like Obamacare, the Green New Deal, the Inflation Reduction Act, etc., that has given us such disastrous inflation. And contrary to all his negative ads about these big bad “out-of-staters” it is he who greedily accepts the tens of millions of dollars from out-of-state, rich, liberal donors to his campaign; donors who support the notion that Montana is just a colony which should be controlled and exploited according to radical D.C. politics.
Tester has become old and has rusted away, corroded by the toxic environment of the progressive policies of Obama, Biden and Pelosi. We need the fresh face and perspective of Tim Sheehy who will stand up against the Feds and who really trusts and supports Montanans, not a person, like Tester, who just pretends to do it for a few months every six years.
The choice is obvious. Tim Sheehy should be our next senator.
