Robert 'Bob' Henry Herman, 84
Robert Henry Herman, 84, of Columbia Falls, passed away Friday, March 28, 2025, at Immanuel Lutheran Communities.
Although our sadness is great, we are all comforted by the thought that Robert is reunited with the love of his life, Mary.
Robert was born Sept. 14, 1940, in Williston, North Dakota to Phillip and Anna (Holler) Herman. He was the second born amongst 10. In May of 1948, Phillip and Anna moved the family to Columbia Falls. He attended grade school and high school in Columbia Falls and graduated from Columbia Falls High School in 1959. On Jan. 4, 1962, Robert met Mary Kathryn Polensky and on July 14, 1962, they married
From this union came eight children. Robert was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, uncle, friend and Catholic. Everyone who met and talked with him became his friend. Robert was generous and always eager to help out. Robert had an amazing talent of wood working, his talent seen in many of the pieces he would give friends and family. He excelled in everything he did. We’re pretty sure that if one were to look up father or grandfather in the dictionary, he would be listed. He delighted in seeing his grandchildren and was the epitome of "the perfect grandpa." There was never a holiday missed where all would come together for Robert’s "master" BBQ skills.
Robert was enlisted in the National Guards 1963-1969. He was a foreman at the Aluminum Plant for 32 years. After retirement, Robert was honored to be part of the Woodlawn Cemetery and often joked that all of his family are property owners at Woodlawn Cemetery.
Robert is survived by his children, Suzette (Jamie) Hiebert and daughter, Kelsie; Mary Beth (David) Timmons and children, Hailey, Jenilea and Justin; Diane (Mark) Praxel and children, Kayla, Layton and Cassandra; Robert (Bob) Herman and children, Skyler and Chantel; Jerry (Marie) Herman and children, Rebecca and Colton; Ann (Wes) Harapat and children, Dylan and Sage; Christopher (Lisa) Herman; Patrick (Christine) Herman and son, Myles; siblings, Rose Bruce, Harold (Arlis) Herman and Vivian (Johnny) Gladeau and many grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary; his parents, Phillip and Anna Herman; uncles, Anton Herman and John Herman; siblings, Mary LaRoque; Donald Herman; Arnold Herman; Henry Herman; Charles Herman and Kathleen Bowers.
We miss and love you and hope that when we are reunited again that you have saved us front row seats with Mom to that Patsy Cline and Johnny Cash concert that you’re probably enjoying every day. Lastly, in the words of singer Randy Travis, we’re "gonna love you forever and ever, Amen."
Visitation will be held from 4-6 p.m. on Thursday, April 3, at Columbia Mortuary, 1010 Fourth Ave. W., Columbia Falls, Montana. Rosary will be said at the conclusion of the visitation.
A funeral mass will be held at St. Richards’s Catholic church in Columbia Falls at 11 a.m. on Friday, April 4, with interment at Woodlawn Cemetery.
A celebration of Robert’s life will follow in the basement of St. Richard’s Catholic Church.
