Jore powers Lady Pirates over Wildkats
COLUMBIA FALLS — Polson’s Olivia Jore hit two homers and drove in four runs Tuesday to lead the Lady Pirates over Columbia Falls 13-3 in an early Northwest A softball showdown.
Jore’s leadoff home run broke a 2-2 tie in the top of the third inning; she added a three-run shot to cap a 10-run fifth inning, putting Polson (3-0-1) up 13-3. When Columbia Falls didn’t answer in its half of the fifth the game ended under the mercy rule.
Jore had three hits and scored three times for Polson. Liz Cunningham had three hits and scored twice; Opal Nash had a double and three RBIs and Emma Smith drove in three as well. Jaliyah Pierre added a two-run double, and Jaja Nichols had two hits and scored twice for Polson.
All of this backed the pitching of Samantha Rensvold, who allowed six hits, two walks and two earned runs. She struck out four and also had a hit and scored twice from the leadoff spot.
Onnika Lawrence hit two doubles and scored once for the Wildkats (1-2), who were outhit 15-6. Sydney Burke doubled in a run in the second inning that tied the game 2-2. Annika Reid drove in Columbia Falls’ first run.
Ronan 15, Whitefish 0
RONAN — Ronan’s Nevaeh Perez hit a solo home run, and Kai-Cee Sorrell hit a three-run shot as the Maidens made short work of Whitefish in a Northwest A game.
Perez’ homer made it 2-0 in the first inning; Sorrell’s big fly came near the end of a 12-run second inning by Ronan.
Hadassah Read’s RBI single capped that rally and made it 15-0; when Whitefish (0-1) didn’t score in its half of the third, the game ended under the mercy rule.
Ally Luedtke scored three times for the Maidens, who won their third straight to improve to 3-3. Perez scored three runs and drove in four; Read had two RBIs; and Kailyn Marengo, Kylee Kelch and Autumn Lozeau also had RBIs.
Marengo allowed one hit — Elyse Sharpnack’s two-out single in the first — in three innings in the circle. She fanned eight.
