Vikings, Trotters rule Libby Invitational track
LIBBY — Bigfork’s Tamret Savik was a double-winner, so was Plains’ Alexis Deming, and the Vikings and Trotters won the Libby Invitational track and field meet Saturday.
Deming won the discus with a personal-record throw of 130 feet, 1 inch and took the shot with a mark of 36-0.5 as Plains tallied 86 points to 81 for Browning. Libby (64) and Bigfork (61) were next.
Deming leads Montana’s discus throwers, regardless of class. She’s No. 1 in Class B in the shot.
Teslin Trombley led the Lady Indians, winning the long jump (16-6.25, fourth in Class A) and 200 (27.38). Browning also had wins from sophomore Peyton Eaglefeathers in the 800 and Amani Yellow Owl in the high jump.
Libby had a double-winner in freshman Capri Farmer, who hit PRs in both the 1,600 (5 minutes, 24.24 seconds) and 3,200 (11:33.47). Both times sit third in Class A. Farmer’s teammate Hailey Misner won the 100 meters.
Eureka’s Karli Campbell hit her PR in the pole vault, clearing 10-0; just four Class B girls have reached that height.
Addyson Deal of Thompson Falls had the top girls javelin throw in Class B Saturday: 120-0.
With Savik winning the long jump and high jump, Bigfork piled up 115 points to win the boys team title. Browning was next at 86; Ronan and Eureka tied for third at 64.
Eureka’s Cole Sartori clocked 2:01.63, a PR, while winning the 800. His teammate Jesse Day won the javelin with a PR of 166-10, and the Lions also got wins from Tayden West (200), Sean Cotman (400) and Jack Lucke (triple).
John Owen Jermyn of Plains won the 1,600 in 4:45.25, a PR. Libby’s Cody Watson ran the 3,200 in 10:07.80, another PR.
