Carole Driscoll, 79

| April 20, 2025 12:00 AM

Carole Driscoll, 79, of Lakeside, passed away peacefully on April 10, 2025, surrounded by her loving family.

She was born on Sept. 11, 1945, in Spokane to Carole and Robert Ball.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her beloved stepmother, Betty, and her younger brother, Bobby.

Carole began her lifelong journey of caregiving as a nurse’s aide during her teenage years before becoming a registered nurse. She was a proud veteran serving in Vietnam as a nurse for the US Army, a role that exemplified her strength, compassion, and courage. Her dedication to nursing continued well beyond her military service, working in hospitals, with the Red Cross, and in training centers. She was widely known for her healing hands, boundless empathy, and, on a lighter note, her legendary pies.

On May 9, 1970, Carole married the love of her life, Daniel Driscoll. They built a beautiful life together, and next month would have marked their 55th wedding anniversary. Together, they raised two children, Reland and Erin, whom Carole adored deeply. She was a loving and supportive mother and grandmother, taking immense joy in her grandchildren—Gavin (Olivia), Kendra, and Jack.

Carole is survived by her devoted husband, Dan; her children, Reland (Shawn) and Erin; her cherished grandchildren; her sisters, Celia Bolling and Susan Web; her brothers, Jeff and Mike Ball; and her stepbrothers, Jim, Dan, and Jack Roadhouse.

Carole had a natural warmth that drew people in and a generous spirit that made everyone feel like family. She was the heart of countless gatherings at Flathead Lake, where she hosted her treasured "ladies week" each year. Boat rides on Flathead Lake were her favorite activity and the hotter the weather, the better. Dan and Carole enjoyed many winters in Yuma.

A funeral Mass will be held at 1 p.m. on June 28 at the Mission in Saint Ignatius, Montana, followed by interment at the old Catholic cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Carole’s memory to the D'Aste Church Preservation Project.

Carole will be remembered as a wonderful sister, sister-in-law, wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. She leaves behind a legacy of love, service, and funny memories, and she will be deeply missed by all who had the honor of knowing her.
