Jack A. Wilkinson, 87
Jack A. Wilkinson, 87, of Columbia Falls, passed away peacefully on March 28, 2025, in Kalispell. Born on Feb. 24, 1938, in Watsonville, California, Jack lived a life full of adventure, love, and unwavering dedication to his family and the outdoors.
He is survived by the love of his life, Delores Wilkinson; his children, Walter Wilkinson (Michelle) and Jami Ekern (Bert); and his adopted daughter, Sherrie, affectionately known as "Giggles." He also leaves behind his brother, Jerry Wilkinson (Lynne); grandchildren, Clint Ekern (Laurel), Ashley Ekern, Tiffany Ekern, Kayla Ekern, Dillon Wilkinson (Cassie), Tucker Wilkinson (Allison), and Meagan Holter (Dillon); and great-grandchildren, Taylor, Baylee, Cason, Jaxon, Brea, Scout, Steel, and Milo.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Walt and Hazel Wilkinson.
Jack was a hardworking man who spent many years working alongside family at Granite Construction. He was also active in real estate management and cattle ranching, always embracing new opportunities and challenges with grit and determination.
A lifelong outdoorsman, Jack loved fishing, hunting, and watching hummingbirds and squirrels from his office window. His passion for adventure took him around the world, earning him several record trophies recognized by Boone and Crockett. He had a deep bond with his dogs and enjoyed attending auctions whenever he could.
In his youth, Jack was elected to the All-American Junior Team for skeet shooting and played on the golf team in high school. He went on to attend San Jose State University. He was also a proud member of the Sheriff’s Posse, the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation, the Mule Deer Foundation, and the North American Sheep Foundation.
A celebration of Jack’s life will be held at 3 p.m. on May 7 at Johnson-Gloschat Funeral Home in Kalispell.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, a cause close to Jack’s heart.
Jack’s legacy lives on in the lives of his family and all who knew him. He will be dearly missed and remembered for his adventurous spirit, generous heart, and unwavering love for his family and the great outdoors.
