Law roundup: Siri calls 911 when man asks for app help
A dispatcher called back the phone number associated with a 911 hangup, and a man reportedly answered, saying he was using his phone’s digital assistant to get help with an app when it called 911.
A store manager asked Kalispell Police Department officers to move along a 20-year-old allegedly hanging out in the restroom by a pharmacy. The man walked in front of the store but refused to leave the property, complaining that he was “going to call corporate to complain.” Officers told the manager they would remove the man if the store wanted to press trespassing charges.
A man wearing checkered pants and headphones, who had been kicked out of a store the previous day, reportedly returned and started filming an employee. The man moved along, but if he returned, he would be cited for trespassing.
A woman was startled while eating lunch in her van when a silver Toyota Tacoma allegedly backed into her vehicle and drove away.
A woman called police alleging that a woman wanted overseas attacked her son, killed her nephew in a hit-and-run and also killed her mother in another state. An officer tried calling her twice, with no way to leave a voicemail when she didn’t answer.
A resident told officers the “same old stuff” was allegedly happening with a German Shepherd and black dog running at large around the neighborhood once again.
Three teens at a park were reportedly screaming obscenities at cars, throwing things around and trying to break the playground equipment. Officers counseled them about their behavior but did not find evidence that anything was damaged.
A pedestrian allegedly flagged down an officer with concerns that children were going to get hold of a container someone left near a bench if it contained a controlled substance. The container label stated that there was ginseng and royal jelly in the multiple small bottles.
A man reportedly thought hackers were listening to him on his computer and phone and contacted the police for help.
A woman called officers with concerns about two dogs reportedly panting inside a parked Silver Subaru, saying the windows were steamed up and the canines looked like they were “about to die.” The owner returned and let the dogs out while she was on the phone.
