Cole Opre hitting his personal record in the pole vault was among the highlights of Glacier’s home track and field dual with Missoula Sentinel Friday.

Opre cleared 14 feet, 7 inches and sits second in all of Montana in that event. He was part of a Glacier sweep of Friday’s dual: The Wolfpack boys won 84-66 and the girls, 88-51.

Among the Wolfpack boys, Ben Winters hit a PR in the shot put with a throw of 51-3; he is tied eighth in all classes and ranks sixth in AA. Teammate Will Astle threw 48-9 and is ninth in AA.

Glacier also got a win from Gabe Ackerly in the 3,200; his time of 9:49.25 sits seventh in AA.

On the girls’ side Glacier’s Breanna Barnes also hit a PR in the pole vault, clearing 11-0 to win the event. Just three girls have gone higher in Montanan, and none in AA. Sentinel’s Naomi Lee, who cleared 11-0 on April 9, got 10-6 Friday.

Rylee Bigelow helped the Wolfpack girls with wins in the discus and shot put; Zeila Wagner won the 100 meters for Glacier and Dacia Benkelman was victorious in the 400.

Other winners for the Pack were Jaidyn Peevey (high jump, clearing 5-2), Charlotte Osler (javelin), Priscilla Melnick (800) and Emmery Schmidt (triple jump with a PR of 34-7).

Peevey’s javelin throw of 114-6 was a PR and ranks No. 9 in AA.
