Glacier boys, girls drop games in Butte

BUTTE  — The Mining City wasn’t kind to either Glacier basketball team Friday night, as the Butte Bulldogs swept a Western AA doubleheader at the Civic Center.

Hudson Luedtke led four Bulldogs in double figures with 17 points as the Butte boys prevailed 71-65; in the early game Cadence Graham scored 21 points to lead the Butte girls to a 52-45 victory. 


Butte boys 71, Glacier 65 

Liam Ells scored 15 points for the Wolfpack, who trailed 42-30 at halftime but made a third-quarter charge. 

Ells hit a 3-pointer and Ethan Kastelitz made a steal and fed Cooper Pelc for a dunk in the final minute as Glacier closed to 50-48 going to the final quarter. 

Then Butte scored the next nine points, capped by Torre Tempel’s three that made it 59-48 with 5:35 left in the game. Another three from Spencer Callaghan put the Bulldogs (10-5 overall, 6-4 in the Western A) up 64-54 with 4:05 remaining. 

Kastelitz had 12 points for Glacier (5-9, 3-6 in league), including three 3-pointers; Slate Burrington added 10 points.

Brityn Stewart scored six of her 16 points in the second quarter as the Lady Bulldogs opened up a 20-16 lead, and her two free throws at 5:55 of the third quarter pushed the gap to 29-18. 

Graham hit two 3-pointers and scored 12 points before the third period was over, and Butte (10-5 overall, 6-4 in the Western AA) led 40-30.  

Reese Ramey scored 18 points for the Pack; her second 3-pointer with 18 seconds left in the game cut the lead to 51-45.  

Allie Krueger added eight points for Glacier (7-7, 4-5 in league).
