7-B tourney: Kossmans lead Eureka to pair of wins

EUREKA — The Kossman siblings roared on Tuesday.

Brynn Kossman scored 12 of her 14 points in the first half, helping Eureka take care of Plains in a first-round District 7-B tournament girls basketball game, 38-22.

Then in the nightcap Kyler Kossman scored 15 points to lead the Eureka boys over Superior 38-31 in another first-round game.

Both teams moved into Friday’s semifinal games. Eureka’s girls face Thompson Falls at 2 p.m.; the boys take on host Mission.

The rest of the tournament takes place in Mission, with the top four teams moving onto the Western B Division next week in Hamilton.

Home teams won Tuesday’s other 7-B games: Superior’s girls beat Troy 70-39; the Mission boys held off Plains 61-53.

Lady Lions 38, Trotters 22

Katlyn Chaney added 11 points for the Lions, who led 23-9 at halftime.

Trystan Larsen led the Trotters with six points.

Neither team hit a 3-pointer.

Kyler Kessman had nine points by halftime, and the Lions held the Bobcats scoreless in the second quarter to open up a 20-7 lead.

Cole Sartori added nine points for the Lions; Logan Richards had 12 to lead Superior.

As in the girls game, neither team hit a 3-pointer.
