Eureka boys, girls take 3rd at Districts

MISSION — Kyler Kossman scored 24 points, Cole Sartori added 14 and Eureka held off Mission 57-53 for third place at the District 7-B tournament Saturday.

The top four teams in the tournament advance to next week’s Western B Divisional in Hamilton. Thompson Falls beat Troy 67-43 for the boys championship. 

Mission beat Thompson Falls for the 7-B girls title, while Eureka was third in that bracket as well, beating Superior 52-44. 

BOYS 

Eureka 57, Mission 53 

Kossman scored seven points in the third quarter while Eureka padded a 31-22 halftime lead out to 49-30.  

The Lions (11-11) then had to withstand a furious fourth quarter by the host Bulldogs (8-13). Lex LaFrombois hit three 3-pointers and scored 11 points in the period; he finished with four treys and 33 points.

Similar to the boys consolation game, Eureka built a large lead through tghree quarters and then held on. 

Brynn Kossman scored 21 points, eight coming in the third quarter as her Lions (8-14) built a 44-26 lead.  

Josie Crabb’s 17 points led Superior (10-12).
