KMS follows the Yellow Brick Road in production of 'The Wizard of Oz'
Kalispell Middle School will present “The Wizard of Oz: Young Performers Edition” on March 6, 7, and 8 at the KMS Cafetorium.
More than 50 students make up the cast, with just as many working behind the scenes to create scenery, props, and costumes, as well as managing the technical aspects of the show.
“The Wizard of Oz: Young Performers Edition” is a one-hour adaptation of “The Wizard of Oz” specially tailored for younger aged actors.
It tells the story of a young Dorothy Gale who is swept away by a tornado from her Kansas farm to the magical land of Oz. She encounters a host of whimsical characters: good witches, bad witches, animals that talk and scarecrows that walk. To find her way home, she must journey along the Yellow Brick Road to see the mysterious and all-powerful Wizard in Emerald City.
She makes new friends, but must also brave many dangers during her journey, including the Wicked Witch of the West, who will stop at nothing to get her hands on Dorothy’s magical ruby slippers.
The musical features beloved songs such as “Over the Rainbow,” “If I Only Had a Brain,” “Ding, Dong! The Witch Is Dead,” and many more.
Tickets are available at the door: $10 for adults and $5 for students. Showtimes are Thursday and Friday, March 6 and 7, at 7 p.m., and Saturday, March 8, at 3 p.m.
