Yonder Mountain String Band to promote latest album with spring concert
Grammy-nominated bluegrass group Yonder Mountain String Band is slated to promote its latest studio album, “Nowhere Next,” in a March 7 concert at the Wachholz College Center in Kalispell.
Released in November, the band’s 11th studio album follows the Grammy-nominated “Get Yourself Outside” and features original songs inspired by lived experiences, people and places. The "Nowhere Next” is a mix of bluegrass, indie rock and country with soulful, funky grooves that call for a good time. It is the second collaboration written by founding members founding band members Adam Aijala (guitar, vocals), Ben Kaufmann (bass, vocals), Dave Johnston (Banjo, vocals) and Nick Piccininni (mandolin, banjo, fiddle, vocals).
After 26 years, Yonder Mountain String Band stands at the forefront of the progressive bluegrass scene as one of the innovators and pioneers of the modern “jamgrass movement.” Blending bluegrass with elements of rock, alternative and improvisational music, Yonder Mountain brings their high-energy, sound and psychedelic light show into rock n’ roll settings, proving it is possible for a bluegrass band to not only exist but excel in a rock world without drums.
Also joining Yonder for their 2025 spring tour is award-winning, cross-genre violinist and fiddle-shredder, Coleman Smith of the bands Rapidgrass, David Lawrence & The Spoonful and The Bluegrass Journeymen, who is taking an extended leave from his own international touring schedule.
The Wachholz College Center is located on the campus of Flathead Valley Community College.
Ticket prices range from $49.50 to $64.90, which includes service fees and may be purchased online at wccmt.org or by calling the ticket office at 756-1400.
