BOZEMAN — Montana State quarterback Tommy Mellott earned his second national player of the year award Friday, when the Football Championship Subdivision Athletics Directors Association (FCS ADA) named him 2024 FCS ADA Offensive Player of the Year.

Mellott joins Central Arkansas defensive lineman David Walker, the pick for defensive player of the year, as the FCS ADA’s 12th group of honorees. Mellott, a Bobcat senior from Butte, earned Big Sky Offensive MVP and consensus First Team All-America honors after leading the Bobcats to a 15-0 record, a No. 1 national ranking, and a spot in the FCS Championship game on Monday.

He leads the FCS in pass efficiency and points responsible for entering Monday’s title tilt.

Mellott was previously named Walter Camp FCS Player of the Year and FCS ADA All-America quarterback, and is also a finalist for the Walter Payton Award, presented by Stats Perform at its FCS Awards Banquet on Saturday night in Frisco. Bobcat linebacker Troy Andersen won the FCS ADA Defensive Player of the Year award for the 2021 season.
