Bobcat women use late run to down Eagles

BOZEMAN — Katelynn Martin scored 19 points and Montana State used a late 16-0 run to close out a 66-54 victory over Eastern Washington Saturday in Big Sky Conference women’s basketball. 

Esmerelda Morales added 16 for the Bobcats (11-4 overall, 2-0 in Big Sky games), who saw a 15-point third quarter lead evaporate thanks to a 20-2 Eagle surge. 

Kourtney Grossman led the Eagles (4-10, 0-2) with 13 points and 16 rebounds, Ella Gallatin added 11 and Alexis Pettis tallied 10. 

Gallatin gave the Eagles a 50-45 lead on a 3-pointer with 6:50 left, but the Bobcats scored the next five points and tied the game on a triple from Morales. 

Martin put Montana State ahead for good on a layup with 5:04 left to make it 54-52. She also led the team with seven rebounds. 

Montana State now heads on the road to Northern Colorado Thursday.
